Various types of electrical networks
Electrical network:
-
Interconnection of electrical
circuit elements
-
Examples of electrical circuit
elements are resistors, inductors, capacitors etc.
Linear electrical network:
-
Circuit containing all linear
electrical elements
-
A linear element is element
which is having linear relationship between voltage applied and current flowing
through it.
-
Example for linear element is
resistor.
Bilateral electrical network:
-
A circuit whose characteristics
are irrespective of the direction of current.
-
Electrical network consisting
of only resistors is an example for the bilateral electrical network.
Unilateral electrical network:
-
A circuit whose characteristics
are dependent upon the direction of operation.
-
Electrical network consisting
of diodes is an example for the unilateral electrical network.
Active network:
-
Network contains an active
source along with all other network elements.
Passive network:
-
Network contains only passive
elements and not the active source.
-
Mostly passive networks are
used as loads.
